More Than This
Writings of Remembrance by the Suicide Bereaved
More Than This is a collection of true remembrance writings by the Suicide bereaved, from authors in New Zealand and a few overseas writings.
The collected writings are intended to uplift, heal and offer hope to other suicide bereaved who may still be struggling with such an enormous and tragic loss and maybe can’t see a way forward.
In the stories, family and friends remember the beautiful, creative, generous, big lives that their loved ones lived before succumbing to the darkness of suicide, but also, in some cases, leaving a legacy of creativity, life, inspiration, community initiative, and so on, after their death.
In sharing the stories of our loved one’s greatness, we get a look into what drove them in life, the creative force that kept them up at night making wonderful, imaginative, colourful pieces of art or excelling in the technology or business world, farming, horticulture, whatever their passion in life was.
More Than This has been a not-for-profit labour of love by its editor, Debby Curreen, who hopes that the writings within this book offer chances for more open, healing and honest conversations around the grief experience by the whanau and friends who have lost a dear one to suicide.
